Take The Leap Designs is the creation of me, Kevin Gamble. It is the name that I proudly post all of my work under, from web design and development, to branding and identity, to photography, and everything in between. Take The Leap is proudly hosted out of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; I say “proudly” because you will never meet a more fiercely proud Canadian than myself.
The name of my little freelance endeavour is inspired by a quote from Cynthia Heimel, that was published in Village Voice: “When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap.” Take The Leap Designs aims to tip-toe that line, erring on the “brilliantly creative” side.
My Skills

Design Background
I have been creating web designs since 1998, back when the Browser War between Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator was in full swing. Back then, tables and frames were all the rage, but now, I create websites that are based on W3C compliancy; namely, websites in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and jQuery. All of my websites are coded by hand in Dreamweaver, I do not use a WYSIWYG interface.
I have been designing professionally since 2005 and with my “nine to five” job paying the bills, Take The Leap Designs now leans more toward a freelance gig. I take on clients on a regular basis and after browsing through my Portfolio, you are interesting in hiring me (or at the very least, a quote on what your project would cost), you can see my process and design brief on the Hire Me page.
I hold an Honours Degree in Bachelor of the Arts from McMaster University, where I combined Multimedia and History over my years there. (If you are trying to reconcile how History and Multimedia went together, I’ll save you the trouble: they don’t. The Multimedia part of the degree was for things like this; the History part was purely for my own interests.)
Who I Work With
Through my various design endeavours, I have had the pleasure of working with everything from small, single-owner businesses (like the Reptile Store Summer Camp) to larger, well-respected brands (such as the Weather Network). I am willing to work with any size company for any size project, all you gotta do is give me a shout. For a quote on your project, head on over to the Hire Me page and read a little more about the process.
